General Discussion - January 24, 2017

I'm really late today but ya'll, I'm so upset and so angry. In his first few days, Trump has already signed executive orders to take away reproductive rights, destroy Native land, take away healthcare (which means thousands of deaths), suggested revisiting conflicts in Iraq, threatened the NEA, attacked National Parks, and called for a media blackout from EPA employees. On a personal note, one of my neighbors was shot at a protest and I'm so, so disappointed with the police & media response.

Trump and the GOP continue to want suffering and environmental destruction, and while the marches this weekend were somewhat hopeful, it's hard for me to believe in "unity" with how quickly this administration is stripping away funding, rights, and protections. I want to believe people are good but fuck, this shit is so... immoral. It's so wrong.

I've met some really amazing activists in my city and working with those people and seeing the community we're building gives me a little hope, but I'm still fucking terrified -how are we supposed to resist all of this at once? Sorry for the doom and gloom everyone. Not even really sure what kind of discussion I'm looking for here- I just feel like I'm living in this nightmare universe and it's hard for me to pay attention to anything else right now.
