Getting out without deploying.

Same here.. but 2004-2010 in the Guard. 1st unit was "deployed" for Noble Eagle, so I got stuck in rear detachment; they came back from that; OEF deployment was up next, but so was BCT transition.. BCT transition causes the company I was in to no longer exist, so we either got sent to school or to deploy if MOSQ in a need (I was a 13M.. so got sent to reclass as 25B).. I got sent to the schoolhouse. Come back from school; change jobs; IST to FL in a Infantry unit where they literally just came back from OIF 2 weeks beforehand; get promoted to E5 and have to change units as a result, that unit also just got back from an OIF deployment. Another deployment opportunity didn't come back up until I was ETSing. And in between all this, I volunteered for multiple deployments with other units, but never got picked up. Closest was with the 20th SFG, but I was still stuck in the schoolhouse and their deployment either got moved up or cancelled (don't remember which). Sometimes the timing is just shit..
