they started out blaming job shortages on women working. So they made it illegal for women to be able to own money. That would halve the demand for jobs and promote family values because women would be pressured to pair off with a man to get by.

Jordan Peterson basically preaches this. He claims women working and getting educations is the reason wages have stagnated, people are delaying or forgoing marriage, and families aren't having children/having them out of wedlock. He believes the vast majority of women would prefer motherhood/staying at home to working.

When you have a professor with a massive audience spreading this belief, it's no wonder it's so popular on places like YouTube. Of course Peterson isn't the first person to hold such a view, but he's part of a pretty popular chorus.
