Got kicked out of IOP...

lol when I did IOP a few years ago, I was living with my mom and was practically forced to sign the release of information. And the counselor made it seem like they would just confirm if I was doing well or not. Well, the counselor lady told my mom everything so I got kicked out of her house. Ended up being good for me though. And they told me in IOP I wear too much eyeliner and look like a junkie, which I thought was rude. I'm just bad at eyeliner, damn.

They also told my mom to make me get up at a normal morning time and do chores around the house because "drug addicts stay up late and you need to break that routine and be productive". What. I did stay up late but that was because I'd had a second shift job and always have worked second shift.

They also really pressed the AA shit and you were supposed to go to a certain number of meetings and basically said AA was the only way. Same thing with mainly alcoholics being there. And sticking needles in your arm is way different than going to the store and buying booze.

People always push the higher power thing too. Even when you say you don't believe in god. Personally, I think you are your own higher power. You are in charge of your life and your decisions. We get ourselves into addiction so it's up to us to get over it.

Don't mean to hijack your thread with my rants lol. I just want to share that I understand and went through something similar. I think everyone is different and you do what works for you. Some people need to be clean from everything, some people can handle wed or alcohol or whatever.
