Granville bridge blocked by protestors

I know that not many of you support the cause and the protester's numbers aren't massive, but bridges were also shut down for hours and hours (and Cambie and Broadway was completely blocked off) for the climate strike not so long ago, and I don't remember anyone here complaining. In fact, r/vancouver's front page was full of posts in support of the protest.

That was an environmental protest calling on the Canadian and world governments to put an end to the use of fossil fuels. This protest is also calling on the Canadian government to stop building (or at least reroute??) very large and consequential fossil fuel infrastructure. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to compare the two.

Can we have a more productive discussion than just complaining about being inconvenienced? I think we can all agree that climate change and ending fossil fuel consumption are pretty huge global priorities, and the way I see it, these protestors are putting their foot down to say no more, which is kind of necessary when our Provincial and Federal governments still have big hydrocarbon extraction projects on their agendas.
