I've had okay experiences with the counseling center. They're good for getting letters of support very quickly for what you're going though or if you just want to talk to someone once, but I would recommend someone off-campus for regular counseling. I will say it's tough having to call at 7:50. I was in the spot of being severely, not able to get out of bed or send an email depressed without ever being suicidal, so I felt guilty about doing some emergency walk-in, so I never would have managed to make the call at 7:50 without having my mom call and pretend to be me or something ahaha. Thankfully my off-campus counselor referred me to someone within the counseling center herself, and I got past that. For off-campus counseling, I've had a great experience with Sue Keller who also does counseling for some of the university faculty (really helps to put things in perspective when you're worried what your professor might think of you) and definitely recommend her, though she's still on medical leave I believe.
