It kind of bothers me when I see nurses post that they deserve to have their student loans forgiven for being on the front lines of this. Why just nurses? What about ANY essential worker working through this in the public?

I get you didn’t sign up to work without PPE. But infectious diseases have always been a thing. I’m really amazed at the general lack of preparation towards pandemics in general. But there’s people with student loans who put themselves at risk everyday in their job without a pandemic. Hell I do firefighting for free. There are VFDs in the US who don’t have adequate PPE all the time. My dept gave turnout gear to a company that basically had none. My dept isn’t funded by our municipal govt. where are the people to care about that?
