Help me understand: if a company uses the +4 sizing method to size their bras, why should I use a different method to pick my size from their range?

that's not how they're making their bras

Why do you say that?

I asked this question because I am a bra maker and I USED TO draft the vast majority of my bras. I use the industry standard drafting method which DOES mean that a 32 band is supposed to stretch to just under 28 or 29 inches depending on the fabric used for the band (usually lycra or power mesh).

The reason I reached out to this sub is because I simply do not have the time to make bras for myself anymore and want to be able to buy bras. My old bras don't fit because I used to struggle with my weight and eating disorders but have now gained weight. But I haven't bought bras for myself in YEARS so i wanted some guidance.

According to this sub's advice, I would be a 30 band but I know for a fact a 30 band is far too tight for me in any brand I have tried (Maidenform, Aerie, VS, Target, Betsy Johnson, AP, or Calvin Klein). So I am wondering what I am doing wrong or missing here. I feel that I'm being pushed to buy from online brands or brands not widely available. But I am extremely lucky to say that I have an "average" and petite body type and size so I KNOW that mainstream sizes and brands can fit me. Right now, 32 D (sometimes 32C) is the size that's working for me best which I chose based on my prior knowledge, but the info on this sub has me confused and doubting. I'm just wondering why and what I'm doing wrong. not trying to dispute or put down anyone's advice.

FYI, I am a 28" underbust and 32" around my apex.
