I've had two cats from kittens (one is 1 1/2 the other is 8) and both are EXTREMELY affectionate. We've always held them and cuddled them a lot and I think that has just made them like that. I think people who have cats that hate being around people either A) probably didn't raise them from kittens or B) probably didn't raise them with that kind of attention.

My boy is the younger one and our cats have their own small room where they sleep at night.. when I open it in the morning he gets picked up and cradled like a baby with belly rubs... every morning. First thing he does when the door opens is run to my feet to be picked up. If I'd allow him to he'd sit on my lap all day. When I'm gaming at my computer he jumps up all the time and forces himself up to my chest to rub his face on mine.

My wife is closer to our female cat and she is always laying on her and when we just had her and let her sleep in our bed at night she'd often sleep in her hair. When we got the 2nd one we decided that it was better for our sleep that they go sleep in their own room though. So now they have a kitty bedroom.
