Hey, adult 40-50+ Redditors. What do you do to resist complacency, if anything? What do you do to shake up your life?

I swim a million metres per year. Swam the Gibraltar Strait last year (>50 years old) but that was far from my biggest swim (English Channel, Round Manhattan).

Every night I swim the pool is busy with guys in their twenties on the various local teams using the sauna. The odds and my experience says at most maybe one of them be as active as me when they get to my age. But I feel weird about saying "my age" as mostly I don't feel it.

I also started writing for myself a few years ago and that has been almost as important. It has also been a journey of increasing skill and trying new ideas, and is also a way of freeing myself of some fears.
