I looked through the study. Several types of endocrine issues, several classes of medications, psychosexual issues, and penile sensitivity loss due to age were other factors in DO. Hyperstimulation may be an issue. The problem in getting information from the sub is from the comments you would come away thinking death-grip was the exclusive cause of all DO.

Studies have shown a correlation between DO and men with idiosyncratic masturbation practices (5, 14).

Then, there's the issue of what practices are idiosyncratic enough to qualify as hyperstimulation. Perelman defines it this way.

Although correlated with high frequency masturbation, the primary factor causing DE for many men was an “idiosyncratic masturbatory style”, which Perelman defined as masturbation technique not easily duplicated by the partner’s hand, mouth, or vagina.

Anything you can do with your own hand, I think could be duplicated by a partner's hand.
