Hired as a grocery clerk excited to join the Publix family! What to expect?

grocery is fast paced and constant. you’ll never not have something to do. a normal 8 hour shift i walk 15-20K steps. it’s fun because you get to move around a lot and not be defined to one space like bakery or deli. assuming you’re not a minor usual hours (for our division at least) are 10-7 mid shifts and 2-11 closing shifts.. always with an hour break. so you’re shift usually is 8 hours. grocery is hard because it’s the whole store, but for me that’s a pro. you get to walk around and help customers and help customer service and not feel so closed off. we have two groups (at our publix) we have stockers and essentials. stockers throw truck and essentials fill water/milk/eggs/ice. if you’re a stocking then make sure you do a good block as soon as you get there on your aisles, check your BBs and then throw truck.. if you have a lot of an item left over than use publix pro check the count/masc and make sure it’s right. get your counts/masc straight and you’ll be golden.

i’m throwing a lot at you so i’ll let you start and get your fill but i’m here if you have any questions or anything! welcome to club pub! :)
