Hormones won't fix (all) your problems

Very important Message, thank you u/JBDBIB_Baerman !

Long before my social & bodily transition, i was diagnosed with a double Depression & BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). While HRT definitely alleviated some of my depression Symptoms, there's no way around Therapy. Before me coming-out, i started a therapy to find out whether or not my 'gender incongruence' was due to my double Depression, BPD or if i actually was trans. Not because i wasn't sure i am trans - or female to be more precise - but whether or not it was because of BPD (since one of the less common symptoms of BPD is a Gender identity / self-identity conflict or dysphoria). It took almost a decade of regular therapy to pinpoint that my BPD isn't causing my Dysphoria, but that it increased it.

And while i sometimes regret to not have started earlier with HRT - (i started with 35, and did therapy for 15 years before that), i now know that not only are those thoughts unhelpful & even harmful, but also that mental health is far more important for a 'successful' transition than just passing physically.
