How to be alone with your thoughts - research shows that many people struggle to think for pleasure

I don't, but what I do have I enjoy immensely; full audio visual imagery and sequences, including I guess my own voice talking to itself if I wanted to? But thinking in abstract very detail imagery, sounds, smells, tastes, etc. All happening in my mind like a smaller reality within a bigger one. I'm a software developer and can just meditate and see how the application or tool I'm building gets assembled from smaller abstract parts into the larger whole and then just grab a notebook and make a list of those steps and processes. Even mechanical stuff is just a matter of mentally creating those parts and assembling them.

I just don't have some imaginary voice narrating those thoughts or talking to me, or however it works for you.
