I’m not, though. What I’m saying is that you ridiculed them even if you didn’t mean to, and I believe you didn’t mean to. Not to be antagonistic here but I meant it when I said “dumb” instead of “intentionally cruel.”

I think you hit the nail on the head with the word “reductive.” What you said isn’t explicitly hateful, but it contributes to a chorus that says there’s something clownish about gay people in society, or that a reasonable response to learning a person is gay is trying to think of a good joke.

Sincerely, I don’t even mean to debate you or pick at you personally. You wrote a comment online that other young people are going to read, I just wanted to leave a comment next to it that says “this is not good,” if that would prompt someone to consider why it isn’t good that wouldn’t have otherwise.
