How poor were you growing up?

Personally, my parents brought me anything and everything that I might have needed in my life (and they still are), so there is nothing I never felt like any poor thing in my life. However, this is the story of my Father.

Eldest brother among 4 kids (2 boys, 2 girls). Grandfather (Dad's father) was jobless, Grandmother was housewife. Great Grandfather was a school teacher (god damn strict), Great Grandmother was housewife (my dad's favorite house member). Yes they all used to live together. Dad used to go to a school village and was taught by y Great Grandfather. It would be very precise to say there were literally no luxuries, not even electricity. Family had a small land to grow vegetable and make food out of them. Dad used to work there sometimes. He studied there till 7th grade, then moved with his uncle to a different city and studied in a better school for 2-3 years I guess and later he returned to the village again. Was about to give board exams (one of the first most important exam for student here) when Great Grandfather died. He studied on his own and somehow ranked 3rd in class. Continued his higher studies in outer city of the village. Filled a form for a government agency. Got rejected for the first time. Filled he form again. And after a long period of joblessness, he finally received the call letter from the agency. Joined the government agency. Working at agency for more than 20 years. Arranged the marriage for both his sisters. And currently he is the only person in the family who have a secured job and he still used to send money to his family without any expectation or feelings.

I don't see a reason why I shouldn't be proud of him.
