If you had a place to perform the repair, a few friends, a good set of tools, and a free weekend, you could learn how to do the repair yourself on the internet.  It wouldn't be easy, but any person capable of learning can fix cars.  There are tutorials and youtube videos for just about every car.Alternatively, I would imagine the best option is to donate it to charity.  Generally the charity will pick up the car free of charge.  Since your car is probably only worth about $1500, scrap value isn't much, especially if they charge for transport.Its early in the year, so run some numbers and estimate what your deductible expenses would be if you itemized on your 2013 tax return.  You might be surprised.  Add whatever you would declare the car to be worth and see if it exceeds the standard deduction.  That's probably the easiest way to get some money out of it.  However demolition derby definitely provides the most utility.
