How would you solve the problems transgender people face? What are the biggest problems that transgender people face today?

  • I feel like I cannot pinpoint just one issue that transfolk face as being the be all end all biggest issue. However, something that I think is a pretty big issue (and I didn't see anyone mention it, although I just skimmed a bit so if it's already here, oh well) is those transfolk who are into this whole "die cis scum movement." It perpetuates the idea that trans people and cis people should be segregated, and that feels kind of toxic. It also creates a rift between us--I've tried to talk to some of the "die cis scum" people about how they're kind of just making us all look like a bunch of angry, rabid people...but all they do is cuss me out. I really want to have a constructive discussion with one of these kinds of people, but I'm starting to feel like it's never going to happen. Regardless of the fact that there are some cis people who would like nothing more to hurt us, we are not them. Rise above the hate. Spread love.

  • I've been trying to get on HRT for maybe two years now, but I feel like I've made very little progress. I have state insurance and I live in California--and it's supposed to be covered by my insurance. However, for whatever reason, the doctors I can see with my insurance type will not administer hormones! It's illegal. I've contacted my insurance about it, and I'm hoping to hear back from them soon...but, it's already been about a month, so I have no idea what's going to happen. When it comes to the one thing I want the very most, it feels as if I am at a standstill right now.

  • I guess I already kind of explained how I'd fix the first one, but I also don't know if it's a battle that's worth fighting. The second one? Hire more competent doctors. Make things more easily accessible for those of us on state insurance.
