I think humans need an enemy

I think it feels good to have an enemy. It is a good distraction from how terrible life can be. Whether its justified or unjustified is a separate issue. However, I really don't think war would be so common if not that on some level its human nature. We feud because it's in our DNA to feud. We are adapted for struggle, fear and conflict.

It seems pretty clear to me whether it's full blown slaughter like in historical wars or technological wars in Kuwait, even to nowadays in social justice and political divisions and even social media, people enjoy the argument almost as much as the results of the argument. The journey is as important as the destination. It may be justified and it may not be, it might be for good or evil, either side it is a cause and we feel empowered by fighting for it. Without such an enemy or injustice to fight against, I think people find life empty and somewhat meaningless. That's my personal view of all this mess of a world we have and what's transpired over the years.
