If you believe in equal rights...

Are you aware of why crack has a worse sentence than cocaine?

They're different drugs. The sentence is identical for each person found guilty, regardless of demographic.

This doesn't seem to be true. I've seen number as much as 20% longer sentences for people of color than their white counterparts.

Source please. Also, it must be controlled for criminal history and type of criminal history.

There are obviously a lot of variables so each study needs to be evaluated on its own merits but they are some are very good reads if you have the time.

Which would mean that the only truly relevant stats would be sentences of first time offenders in each specific jurisdiction.

E.g. Cuyahoga County, Ohio sentences for first time offenders of trafficking in a controlled substance.

You can't mush jurisdictions together as each jurisdiction has different judges with different guidelines preferences. I'm willing to bet that jurisdictions are consistent.

And I've never set foot in North Dakota but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I'm glad though that hasn't been the case when you've been involved.

Not anywhere near North Dakota. In a city with hundreds of thousands of people. I know the the prosecutors very well in my city and not a single one of them shows bias against racial demographics. Race isn't even known until somewhat late into the case, generally past the time a plea offer is made.
