If you could send an anonymous text to yourself 5 years ago, what would you write?

I hope that you believe what I am about to tell you, because I mean to help you. This may sound crazy, but I'm from the from five years from now and there are a few things you should know that might make your life better.

You only have a few more years left with Snoopy. Make them count and spoil him even more than you do now. Eventually he won't be able to jump up on the bed, so build him some stairs so he can sleep on the bed comfortably whenever he wants instead of putting it off.

You and [name of ex] are just starting out and I know your happy and you continue to be for a few years. You could probably be happier if you do one thing. When you get your first apartment together, don't take the delivery job. Find something else, anything else. It will make you miserable, take all your spare time away, and will drive you two apart. Also, talk to her about your future together, instead of just saying you'll work it out later. Don't take her for granted and don't give her up that easily.

Speaking of your future, I know you have no idea what you want to do. You should look into becoming a copywriter. Trust me, it's something you'll enjoy. You'll also meet a man one summer who runs a small ad agency when you're doing a quick craigslist gig. Reach out to him when you graduate, he can help you get started. Keep looking for better opportunities, eventually you'll land one, with a great salary for a fun company.

This is be the first time in your life you'll actually find yourself making good money. Don't be an idiot and waste it on stupid things. Start paying off those college loans. Get yourself out of debt so you can help mom keep the house and start saving up for your future.

You probably won't believe any of this, but to prove to you in a way that might make you believe, this year at the Breeders' Cup Zenyatta loses to Blame by a head. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in life and hope it all works out.

Cheers!
