If you could write an episode of Doctor Who, what would it be about?

A story about the Eternal Dalek.

Basically, if you look at Dalek stories, there's an interesting pattern. Every Dalek that's had their mind expanded has come to the same conclusion. Dalek Sec realised that the race had to become peaceful to survive. Dalek Caan and 'Rusty' from Into the Dalek believed that the universe would be better off without the Daleks. The Dalek in 'Dalek' realised that it was a monster. Even going back to the story 'Evil of the Daleks', the ones injected with the Human Factor became more peaceful.

Now, there have been subtle hints that the Eternal Dalek has something to do with the Prognitor device as noted here. We know the New Dalek Paradigm still exists as an 'officer class'. Between Victory of the Daleks and Asylum of the Daleks, the designs of the Paradigm were slightly modified.

So, attempting to explain a minor aesthetic change, here is a setup. The Eternal Dalek began its work of attempting to ensure the Daleks would survive. But in its ruminations, it began to ponder the best way of survival. Deep in its DNA, thoughts that should not be allowed began to bubble to the surface, as has happened so many times before. Maybe violence was not the way forward? Maybe Daleks could live in peace with the rest of the universe after all?

This was unacceptable. Daleks are superior. Action was taken - the highest court of the fully restored Dalek Parliament ruled that the Eternal should be imprisoned, away from other Dalek eyes. The Engineer class began to work on upgrades to fully distance themselves from the impure ideology. Another Eternal, with a suppressed intellect, was created. There was only supposed to be one, but this is an exception.

And thus, the original Eternal was imprisoned. The location? Unknown. Some speculate an empty world, some speculate near a city.

Alone in the dark, the Eternal had time to think. The prison was created with Dalek technology after all, so if it couldn't necessarily escape, it could still manipulate the technology. The Eternal was supposed to be clever, after all. Perhaps a distress signal could do the trick.

With the distress signal sent, there were two recipients. One of them was a Dalek base on Skaro; the recognised the source and they dispatched a ship to deal with the problem. But unknown to them, a certain Dalek determined to dismantle the dominance of their race known as 'Rusty' was on board. The other recepient was a man in a blue box. Pulling a lever, he set off to investigate...

I've had ideas similar to this knocking around in my head for a while now, and this is just one iteration of the idea. I'm also probably one of the very few fans who would love to see the New Paradigm return.
