If you guys hate it so much here and love generalizing the Reddit community, why don't you leave?

I have a little question since we're already meta here.

I'm generally perceived as a friendly person (I hope?) and was never accused of being a sexist, bigot etc before even though I didn't know or care much about feminism.

My university (I study history/politics) is generally left-winged and we're having quite a few women's issues panels and stickers about feminism everywhere. I was assigned to do a group project with a feminist and she turned out very friendly. I saw it as a chance to learn more about it and it's actually quite interesting and comprehensible. I'm more aware about sexism both on large scales and on a everyday basis, so I've also integrated some things in my own behavior (just casually holding a door open and not standing there like a man from the 50s etc).

I'm fairly new to reddit and don't take this site too seriously. Many kids are in puberty and behave pretty rougely here. The concept of SRS is totally legit and I don't quite understand why it gets so much shit on reddit. Sometimes I thought "this thread has been linked to srs? Oh come on", but this is quite easy to say when you're not confronted by harassment on a dayly basis. I wouldn't see female rape jokes funny either (if they existed?).

So to wrap this up, I'm quite a SRS sympathiser but I'm always afraid to post because I wouldn't fit in because I don't get the humor and I don't want to get banned. I get the concept of a circlequeed and that it's not wanted to interrupt it with relativised or even apologetic answers. Sometimes I think I would have something interesting to contribute but often leave it be.

I'd be quite interested in a reply and I'm really curious whether this will get me "benned".
