That's very true. He was in the wrong.

But what the guy in the truck did only escalated the situation.

That's what gets people shot and killed over a mattress. Road rage is really stupid and people who get out of their cars over little mistakes like that are only making the situation worse. At the very least, the dude was going to have that right lane blocked for the other drivers so he could rage on some guy.

People make mistakes.
