Parent comment:

They say running a marathon is easier than walking it.

All of my posts are in the context of walking as it pertains to finishing a marathon. Marathons generally have finish times of 6 hours and 30 minutes from the gun start - when the first wave goes. If you're in a wave that hits the start 15:00 into the race, you have 6 hours and 15 minutes, so on and so forth.

In my first comment, I noted that clearing 26.2 miles at a 14 minute pace would take about 6 hours and 7 minutes, so even a 14 minute pace might not be fast enough to finish a marathon.

My whole post is in that context and I had pointed out that it is indeed marginally easier to just run a 14:00 pace than to walk it, because, by definition, walking that fast takes more effort.
