Interesting races

My problem with a lot of the playable races in the EQ universe is that they are too laughably simple. I can understand cat people because everyone has cat people and the new concepts are amazing. I don't mean to anger anyone but it's just the reality of what I think of some aspects of EQ.

Ratonga...are just rats Frogloks...are just frogs Barbarian...just a tall human Erudite...lol. A human with an elongated head and a crystal...

The bottom two barely needed their own race categories. Just add a height option for humans and the ability to stick a crystal between their eyes and poof.

The problem with these is that either they shouldn't exist because they are redundant or they are just really funny and in my opinion bring down any epic factor you feel when playing as soon as you've got a rat and a frog in your party.

They should do the same thing they did with Dark Elves to Erudites (and every off race imo)...magic should twist their form FAR more than just minor aesthetic..it should win it's own category and not be some weird gray area of human. Old Dark Elves were just dark colored elves...the new ones earn their own category imo.

WoW can be funny but it doesn't take away from the aesthetic of the game and their biggest screw up so far were the Panda's that were literally just a copy paste from Kung Fu Panda and this reflects the same decisions made in EQ with Ratonga and Froglok. They have zero creative asthetic added...they just made the two bipedal. They need something unique and exciting about them and neither have that.

If they want Ratonga to be badass (which they were) they should make them LOOK badass. Somehow. If they want to make Froglok's mystical and tribal...they should LOOK like that...they didn't look like anything else but rats and frogs before.

Drakkin and Iksar are good ways to add unique races...(especially with Iksar's concepts from SOELive2013)

Fae would have worked if they didn't look like something out of a demonic fairy toy line. I can dig fairies but they need to be more asthetically pleasing and cohesive than soft faced humans with neon colors on some giant butterfly wings.

I'd like forest people, something more nature oriented, if we are throwing out suggestions.
