IsItBullshit: cops have a ticket quota to meet every month

So I know 3 CHP officers, 2 LASD, and 3 LAPD officers.

They all laugh at the idea of people saying cops have quotas. I’m sure it’s going to vary state to state, but as others have stated, they can’t get fired for not writing tickets.

But if they don’t write tickets, they have to justify what they were doing for 8-12 hours a day. Were they handling accidents, on calls, training? Then it’s justified. Were they patrolling? Then unless you were driving blind or driving off beat in the middle of nowhere, it’s almost impossible for you to not observe someone speeding or with a vehicle violation.

Also, one of my good friends who is a CHP Officer is a motor unit, only does traffic. He starts his shift by writing a book of tickets (25) in about 2-3 hours, and spends the rest of his shift at the office or he will go home early (paid). He says it’s so easy to write tickets that if you don’t, you’re turning a blind eye many, many times a day, which is lazy and dishonorable.
