ITT Tech is 'risky' and can't enroll new students on financial aid, feds say

A repost of my previous post concerning this matter.

Fuck ITT-Tech. I used to work there and I could see what they were up to. 1) Get marginal or first-generation college students to visit, 2) convince them they can't get into a reputable community college because they're "over-crowded", "expensive" or "don't offer the necessary classes for a good education", then 3) have them max out student loans using sales techniques straight from a used car lot (one time offer, focusing on the monthly payment instead of the price, pretty women talking "sugar" to the prospective students). The only graduate that I met who was successful was a guy with an IT "pseudo-degree" (since his credits were worthless and not transferable) and he got job doing IT stuff at a healthcare company. Good for him but he was the only such success story that I heard about. I got the hell out of there fairly quickly. Their criminal justice and business degrees were a joke. When I knew I was done there, I told students to go to community college for a better, accredited degree at 1/3 of the price. BTW the instructors were paid very little and some had their own very questionable degrees (Bible colleges and other ITT-ish for-profit schools for example). Their accreditation was a joke too. We were told to say only good things about the school...there was an implied "or else" involved. I was told later that the accrediting body was bought and paid for by such for-profit colleges so of course those schools "passed".

The sales people comprised about half of the staff and were the only ones to get year-end bonuses. The director was a frigging weirdo who didn't want to be talked to by staff. I said "hello" to him one time in the hallway as we passed and he complained to my supervisor and I was reprimanded for it.

The longtime higher ups were given stock options as a retirement package...stocks that are worthless now. I don't feel sorry for them since they were knowingly peddling worthless products. I hope they are broke and screwed up financially for a long time. I predict ITT will be folding soon since those student loans were their bread and butter. TL;DR=Fuck ITT-Tech.
