I had something similar happen. Was headed to work one day while it was snowing and about 5 miles from town I realized I didn't want to risk the remaining 25 miles. After I turned around and started back home I hit some ice on a curve. I spun 360º and the best I could do control-wise was avoid going down the steep side of the ditch (probably would have really messed up my car/flipped me) and instead just glided into the low side of the ditch. Nothing was damaged (I was only going about 25-30mph on the highway when I spun), but I had to call someone to pull me out because my car couldn't get enough traction to get out of the ditch. It's the only accident I've ever been in.
