I get that (and I saw that part when after I posted).

But you're going after a word you deem hurtful when it has a definition that isn't hurtful. There's other words with actual hurtful intent as it's only meaning. I agree if you can avoid belittling/hurting/ect someone and it's easy to do so you should do it. I also think that more often than not people will try to not be openly hurtful.

Just because they happen to use the word "cancer" as the definition above doesn't make them less than a decent person. It may make someone with cancer uncomfortable or upset, but, honestly they may want to educate themselves about the multiple applicable uses of the word and not internalize it as hurtful.

If they use racial slurs/hateful speech with wanton disregard then they are less than a decent person.
