Ok this is how I’m thinking about it all...it might sound cruel, but please hear me out b/c I’m actually coming from a place of compassion—

She’s not going to take my emotions or thoughts hostage. So vague passive suicidal ideation will get addressed by professionals every time I see it—period. If her intent is to elicit a response in others like fear, guilt, sympathy—that’s an unfortunate way to ask for help and kindness, but it nonetheless deserves intervention via wellness check. If her intent is to share her truth and is a cry for help, it also deserves intervention via wellness check. Either way, she’s getting help (not reinforcement or a pass) and I can sleep.
