You're absolutely right.

I don't even get to determine that, even if I was indiginous to a certain culture, because I can't speak for everyone that shares my culture.

I really like the Spanish culture that exists in my family, because it makes us us. Same goes for that little bit of Irish culture my dad brought to the table.

We also celebrate Christmas in my family, it's the anual big family get-together. And Im sure you know santa clause is a serious bastardisation from St. Nicolas.

So I understand the difference between people purposefully acting disrespectful towards any culture, and people using their freedom to experience or do things their own way.

People that don't respect that, in the name of supposedly protecting culture, are just as wrong as the people that stereotype cultures in a bid to belittle it.

People like that wanna freeze culture in-place, and showcase it like a trapped animal in the zoo.

Cultures are very much like people; they travel the world and evolve and change along the way.

Not realising that, means not understanding what culture is and has been since humans started developing it.

Policing people, and beating them with personal convictions, is saying; 'You don't have the intelligence to see reason or be reasoned with. Therefore you should submit to my fanaticism on this subject'.

If anyone wants to teach people about respect, I feel they should practise what they preach first.
