[Landlord-Canada] Interested potential tenant texted “how low can you go for the rent?”. Somehow it rubbed me wrong, especially they haven’t seen the property yet. I already priced it based on surrounding properties and demand. Thoughts?

Small town and cheap rent.

$500 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment. No rent control. Plus 2 small (Chihuahua) dogs. No pet rent or deposit.

Hell, my deposit on the place was $250.

The place isn't dirty, it's just way outdated and few minor issues like one missing cabinet door in the kitchen.

Current owner bought it about 8 years ago and is updating units fully as people move out, and increasing the rent to $600 a month on updated units. Which is still cheap for a 2 bedroom unit.

If there's an issue, it gets fixed or someone called out that day or the next. Pest control landlord pays for during the summer.

My credit is over 700, so if it was bad or I wanted a house, I'd buy one. But owning a place is a headache. So I'm happy how I am.
