[Landlord US-IL] Renter asks me to pay for second cleaning and wall painting

I'd say that a good lesson for the future--get the unit in the move-in ready condition before showing it? That way you dont have to worry about what was "meant" or intended when you say you'll patch up the damage, and get the place cleaned? And if you are looking to rent the unit without fixing up those things, just tell them it is as is. As long as whatever issues are not a violation of some sort? There are definitelt tenants who dont mind moving into a place where the walls arent in great shape, because they like the freedom to paint and hang things themselves. Just figure out what kind of unit you want to be renting--a top notch, luxury, high end, fresh unit where you keep everything in pristine condition and rent to tenants who expect more from you but also maybe pay more.... or, an easy going unit, withour recent updates or fresh paint, etc., that a tenant pays a little less for, and fixes up the paint job themselves (maybe not super professionally, but if the walls arent in hot shape, this might be the market the unit is suited best to?)
