Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Elected Judges (HBO)

Ive been been called to court on a few occations. My most recent charge was about 3 years ago and i opted for a court appointed attorney, which i knew was the worst idea ever. They baisicly bully you into getting these court appointed attorneys, who then just get you to plead guilty. I spent a year on probation with like 80 hours of community survice, had to attend a MAAD meating (Mothers against Drunk Driving, where they show you fucked up pictures and have speakers who have been affected by drunk drunk drivers) and attend out patient rehab. All of this on top of weekly drug tests. My charge was driving with an open bottle of alcohol under the back seat of the vehicle, which wasng mine. Any ways i fucked up and drank one night, went into my drug testing and blew numbers (they give you PBTs when you go in) . One of the stipulations for me violating probation, which this was, was an automatic 90 days in jail, which my loveing probation officer recommended. Fuck that. This time i lawyered up with a gentleman who had a good reputation. When they called me up, this guy went up to the judge and they just talked back and forth quietly for about t minutes while i sweated profusely. Eventually he came over to the potium where i was and the trial began. All this guy did was talk absolute repetitive nonsense. I figured i was fucked and that this guy sucked so i started mentally preparing myself for 90 days in the slammer. When all was said and done i was sentenced to FIVE DAYS IN JAIL, no fees, no nothing. Five days and i was off probation and everything. If i knew it would have happend like that i would have violated 4 month earlier. Now the reason this is so fucked up is because I had all these crazy things to do like rehab and what not, but when i violent probation by getting drunk, which is actual possible behavior of someone who does have a drinking problem and is reckless, i get off alnost scott free because my lawyer was buddies with the judge. I've alway had issues with this stuff, when i got my first 2 charges liker years prior i knew something was up. Anyway i didnt expect this post to be so long and is probably riddled with spelling errors and the like but all im sayin is Damn The Man.
