I left 40 guys standing in the rain after a 12 hr shift.

What I found hardest about Alberta was the heat. If you know how to dress and are willing to fork out for quality workwear, you'll be okay in the cold. There's nothing you can do in the heat, especially when the safety requirement is longsleeves and pants, no tees or shorts. Nothing will hold a candle to working in Labrador, literally millions of tiny biting flies all day long trying to suck your blood, blowing your nose at the end of the day and it's all flies, trying to talk to a coworker and getting a mouthful of flies, raising your arm to signal the operator and getting bit half a dozen times in the brief moment your wrist was exposed. That was hell, we were all miserable.
