Let’s not be too “smart” for our own good

Just saw this. I also went and googled reeducation camps and saw briefly the thing about Xinjiang reeducation camp.

Hmm, yeah that is horrible. As of right now, I think that reeducation camps will be hard to pull off to that scale though, even with cams. How will cams help in that regard anyway? Follow someone through the cams, wait till they are alone and kidnap them or watch them for "bad behavior" and arrest them later?

Either way, I can't think how there won't be an immediate backlash to this action. Allowing cameras to spread in public does not equal to silencing of social media. People will still talk about it in reddit, hardwarezone, fb etc. I find that the idea of if cameras are installed everywhere then there is no doubt that the govt is up to no good. Doesn't that seemed too absolute?

Sooo... its just this jump in logic I'm not getting right now. Increase in cameras -> increase in surveillance -> massive oppression. That last step, not getting it. It's not like as if I talk about PAP recent policies, talking about pros and cons with my friends, that I'll be arrested.

Note that when I say talk, I meant calmly chit chat with my friends at a coffee shop or something. Some people just find that they need the "freedom of speech" and start ranting at loud volume, shouting to people like how doomsayers do. That is annoying and yeah, they get arrested or stopped by police. I mean come on, that is just trying to incite the crowd for a riot or some crap.
