Some tips from a recent KC transplant.. I will be downvoted by the locals but it doesn’t take anything way from my experience.

• Don’t move to any of the “hip” neighborhoods people suggest here. They all border or sit in high crime neighborhoods. People in St Louis think their neighborhood is “gentrifying” as they pay (what is considered here to be) premium prices for an apartment as there is daily violent crime and people living in squalor a block away.

• Do not move downtown. There is ZERO police presence and even less enforcement. The downtown area is a lawless wasteland after 5pm. People fly around on dirt bikes and four wheelers, others think the city streets are a racetrack. The homeless downtown are extremely aggressive and will follow you around. During warmer months there are also groups of teenagers that wander around looking for people to victimize.

I wouldn’t move here if you don’t absolutely have to. The city is dying and the suburbs are full of the same people who are responsible for the current state government. Move to a real city like KC (or anywhere else).
