[Locke] “The biggest myth in the NBA is that you can just rebuild. Nearly 30% of the league has been really bad for an extended period of time and have had top draft picks and still stuck in mediocrity. When you have top level winning talent you have to pay them and keep them.”

Klay was having a great game and it was still going to go down to the wire. In the 5 games that Klay had already played (and was also great in) the Raptors were up 3-2. There’s no reason to assume the Raptors only won because Klay went down. Which is what he said.

Kawhi injured his leg on a transition dunk against Milwaukee, he was laboring noticeably the entire Finals. Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer (among others) reported that after game 6 Kawhi was walking with a big limp.

Any implication that some championships are lesser is ridiculous. It’s incredibly hard to make it all the way through. If the Lakers don’t win another chip in the Lebron/AD era, so it isn’t “bookended with dominance”, does that make this title worth any less? Absolutely not. Nor does it really matter that Bam and Goran were just injured throughout the finals. You beat who shows up to play and you collect your trophy.
