Looking for Dragon Ball Z fans for a Book I'm Writing

Hey, this sounds awesome and I would love to be a part of it.

I'll tell you a bit about my story. I'm a film-maker from Canada based in Japan.

DBZ was a pretty influencial part of my life growing up. As an asian immigrant to Canada in my youth, I found that I gravitated to Japanese popular culture and anime to discover my sense of self identity.

DBZ was one of the first shows I really fell in love with, and it inspired in me an ongoing love of martial arts - especially the high flying kind with lots of flips and kicks. My friends and I actually all had DBZ inspired hair-cuts (complete with bleach blonde bangs), and we spent our days "tricking"/doing XMA (xtreme martial arts) in an attempt to emulate the movements we watched. You can see some of my old videos on my channel here: www.youtube.com/L7frost

However, DBZ had a much deeper impact on me. I think it awoke a deep sense of wonder and adventure that has never quite left me. That sense of wonder took me all the way to Japan where I've been living for the past 5 years, as a JET Programme participant.

And its that deep sense of wonder that continues to push me to see life as an adventure and seek out new challenges. For example, I've been working on a documentary that is based on another series that DBZ fans seem to resonate with - Initial D. You can check it out at my channel and sites www.drifthunter.net and www.thejetcoaster.com

DBZ has also impacted my life subtly in ways that ripple across time as well. The art design by Akira Toriyama led me to discover Chrono Trigger, which sparked my interest in learning to play the piano so I could play pieces from the OST. I've then played those pieces for Japanese school kids in my day job as an English teacher, which inspired the brass band club to actually learn the orchestral score!

Other fun DBZ related things in Japan have been going to work dressed as Vegeta during halloween, and my little hobby of hunting down old Dragonball bouncy rubber balls at used goods stores in Japan. It's totally geeky, but it makes me feel like I'm actually hunting Dragonballs in real life!

It's awesome things like that which show me what an amazing impact Akira Toriyama and DBZ have had across generations.

I'm super glad DBZ is coming back to the forefront of popular culture in Japan so that kids these days can re-live the same wonder we did growing up.

Let me know if I you'd like to know more:)
