Woke up to a message from ex boyfriend from college who I haven’t seen in decades. He’s flying in to LA at the end of the month and asked to have dinner. We’ve kept in touch only through social media. The guy has a devoted wife and two great kids. I also see the posts of his numerous activities with friends. From time to time he sends me random, mundane videos with no accompanying message. Or he makes it a point to tell me about his amazing life. I don’t mind. I’m glad he’s happy and fulfilled.

Would it be rude to ask, “Is your wife ok with this?” While I’m happy to be his FB and Instagram friend, I’m not sure a dinner is necessary. Or good.
