Have you lost touch with someone and been haunted by it since? Did you find them and how?

I had this friend in 10th grade, we had met 3 years before and he was really cool, he was always nice and seemed to care more about his friends than most people that age. He was also a bit misterious and didn't talk much about his life outside of school so I could tell he didn't have the easiest of home environments. But then he started talking about how his family was thinking about moving to the UK, and for like a couple of months he didn't give much details about it. Then one day I got to school and he wasn't there... It's been almost 8 years and I never saw him or heard of him again. It kinda freaks me out how I have absolutely no idea of what happened, but I hope he's ok and is happy. I'm sure I would've handled it differently now and make it easier for him to share stuff, but I guess we were all really young and dumb then and all we wanted was to play video games.
