LSU OC Steve Ensminger lost his daughter-in-law in a plane crash in Lafayette, LA

I think that's an overly optimistic take. Obviously LSU is massively dominating this game, so clearly they were going to be fine. But that's with the benefit of hindsight. What if the OC doesn't coach for the game, the offense sputters, and LSU loses? A lot of people absolutely would hold it against him. Administration and boosters might not say it to his face, but some of them would be thinking it. The unwashed masses on Twitter would absolutely let him hear about it. Some with death threats. Someone might even try to carry them out.

Since LSU is comfortably winning, it won't come up, and people will be happy to say they would have understood if he had chosen not to (or will actually demonize him for it as is happening in this thread). If it had gone the other way, some would still feel that way and legitimately mean it. But you haven't spent very much time interacting with football fans or social media if you think no one would have held it against him if he hadn't coached and LSU had somehow lost.
