I said this on the main sub, but the one thing I'm wondering is that if Maddy came onto the show being very vocal about being the "first straight contestant" as her shtick, or if producers found that out and really mined that for content.

It's tough, because at the end of the day, producers casted her and are obviously living for the discourse online because it's making people talk about the show and will tune in. Maddy obviously wants to show off her artistry, but has this hurricane of discussion about her sexuality. On the other hand, if she's the one really pushing the title as the "straight drag queen", then she brought this discourse on herself.

I think at the end of the day, the real bummer is that FINALLY the show is casting more than one openly trans contestant on a season, and all everyone wants to talk about is the straight one. I'm glad this is opening up discussions on drag and sexuality, and pointing out how the show still hasn't cast a drag king (seriously, watch Landon Cider's run on Dragula to get a sense of what a king could bring to the show), but I hope this season doesn't get overshadowed by discussions on who Maddy wants to sleep with.
