Right. Mega-churches today still do, but I agree Christianity has improved though kicking and screaming the whole time. They've done it by ignoring the majority of the bible and focusing on a few feel-good gospels. If they start getting serious again, then they start looking at the whole thing and trying to reconcile it with reality, so you get fundamentalists that deny science, preach young earth, anti-homosexual, anti-choice, women basically property of their husbands, all that old fun stuff trying to make a comeback. We have to be careful that doesn't get out of hand. Probably at least 1/3 of the country right now would be happy to see our democracy replaced by a more theocratic government. It's scary.
