But even from 97, the changes have been immense.

We live in a completely different world, just with the emergence of Internet, smartphones and social networks.

I haven't been in prison for 20 years, I'm somewhat of a tech nerd, and I still get baffled by some things on a regular basis.

I don't know how much access to current tech incarcerated people have, so I won't assume anything regarding how well he'll adapt to his return to society, but you can't say things barely advanced.

Sidenote, but if someone had shown me an iPhone X in 97 and put on a stream of someone playing RDR2, I would probably have assumed this was from the 2050's, and asked how safe flying cars were.
