Haha it will be a debate that always goes on. Greater Manchester grouping of the 9 local councils is mainly about funding, key services and infrastructure.

Whereas culturally and historically the places vary quite dramatically from Manchester - and the other 8 areas vary a lot from each other too.

People will define it differently in their own mind. But Mancs who actually live in Manchester and are under Manchester Council predominantly don't consider people outside the City of Manchester to be Mancs. That's my experience anyway.

Personally i don't care that much, but do have a chuckle at people from Wilmslow, Alderly Edge, Macclesfield pretending they're from Manchester. They're not even in Greater Manchester!!
