McAfee: First day of retirement I tried adderal for my first time... completely understand why it's considered a PED in the league.. #Limitless

Pump the breaks there, friend. My personal theory was about why a misconception exists. So you likely don't disagree with my theory if you don't agree with the premise that a misconception exists in the first place. Semantics, I know... but this is the internet.

Stimulants are by definition, not calming. I can see how some people might define "calming" as a reduction in hyperactivity, fidgeting, or mental "noise" but I really don't think it's an appropriate adjective, regardless of who's saying it. Maybe this divide really just comes down to terminology but I think it's pretty important.

It's interesting you bring up DSM V because I have the ADHD section of DSM V right in front of me and I'm not seeing what you claimed was there. And just as a side note, I've have yet to see DSM V include treatment responses as diagnostic features. If I'm missing something please point me in the right direction. That applies to any primary literature you think I should read as well. I won't go binge watching youtube videos or reading entire books but I really will read specific studies that you direct me to.

Despite you being quite the spicy pepper, my intention is not and never was to attack you. It's dangerous for the average person to try to educate others about drugs. If someone has a panic disorder or heart condition and either they or the people around them had heard that amphetamines have a "calming" effect, do you see how that could be dangerous? If someone is prescribed amphetamines and experiences increased anxiety and irritability while on the medication, do you see how having a bottle of "calming" medication nearby is potentially problematic? And if you intend on saying "well those people would be dumb", I agree. But I'd also say you would be surprised by how many people try to use rescue inhalers by spritzing it all over their bodies like perfume. The information we share about health is important. Look at how many upvotes you have and think about the overall exposure of your comment. If you were in front of a room with that number of people who will certainly accept the information that you have presented, how confident and comfortable are you with sharing your message? I'm assuming you'll be fine taking the credit for positive outcomes, but are you prepared to take the blame for any adverse outcomes? How confident and comfortable is your psychiatrist with you sharing that message and speaking on their behalf?

I would love it if YOU didn't try to teach people things about drugs

That bit is a little unfortunate for you because I'm getting a doctorate in pharmacy. Teaching about drugs kinda is and will continue to be my thing. Sorry. I'm glad you've responded well to your medication though, I'm going through the exact same thing.
