Meeting in-person with the recruiter next week. What should i be aware of/look out for?

Before you meet. Make a list of reasons why you want to join and what you want to get out of it. Next, consider which jobs you will and will not do.

Take things at YOUR pace. When dealing with a recruiter.

When you get there ask to take the quick practice ASVAB. It’s a lot harder than the actual ASVAB and will help give you an idea what you will score. This is important because your scores can determine your job.

If you have a degree and are under 31 years old, go Officer. If you qualify for officer speak specifically to an officer recruiter.

Go to the national guard site, open the live chat function and ask for an officer recruiter where you live.

Do not feel pressured to do anything. Don’t lie, be upfront with everything. There’s almost always a waiver for anything.

Also, the process may or may not take a long time. If it’s taking time, do your best to get into shape and study.

Ask to take a PiCat (official practice ASVAB) so you learn how to pace yourself and work on your weaknesses. You can also download an app for help with ASVAB testing for free.

If you want everything to go smoothly from now. Bring ALL your paper work.

That means:

Social Security Birth Certificate Highschool Diploma / Transcripts College Diploma Copy of your most credit history If you have student loans, bring the most recent debt amount.

You may qualify for student loan repayment if you decide to go enlisted.

Also, pro tip. Do not choose an MOS (when the time comes) simply because you want that cash bonus.
