Megathread: Ciri Casting Discussion

As a Mexican I can empathize with any Polish fans angry at this decision. I really couldn't imagine one of the main characters in Coco being race swapped to someone completely geographically and historically inaccurate just to give the feeling of inclusion. That's taking into account Coco was a movie made to give Disney a feeling of inclusion and was a completely original story made with that purpose, not a famous series of books by an national author drawing inspiration from his home's culture.

Even in movies, not all white people are equal, just look at how many movie adaptations we've had about English folklore. Hell there's been more than enough bad Robin Hood movies made that you don't have to look deeper than that single legend. I had no clue as to what Polish folklore would even be about before I was introduced to the Witcher, and I really can't imagine what someone who identifies his culture's image with these books would feel by hearing, "you're not underrepresented enough for us, so we're looking for a bigger minority".
